College Soccer: Second half rally leads UCC to 3-3 draw with Clackamas

OREGON CITY — The Umpqua Community College women’s soccer team overcame a three-goal deficit at halftime and rallied for a draw against the Clackamas Cougars on Wednesday at Pioneer Memorial Stadium.

The Riverhawks trailed the Cougars 3-0 at halftime but scored three times in the second half to even-up the score and finish in a 3-3 tie.

UCC’s Mya Stone hit the equalizer right at the end of regulation earn the Riverhawks a point on the road. Zaiah Menlove and Emma Frank scored the first two goals in the comeback effort for Umpqua (4-3-1, 4-1-1 South).

Goalkeeper Kayden Twichell kept UCC in the match by shutting out the Cougars between the pipes in the second half. Clackamas (4-2-2, 2-2-2) was held to just one shot after halftime.

Allison Holpuch, Eva Espelien and Vanessa Valenzuela scored the first half goals for Clackamas.

Up next, the Riverhawks will host Southwestern Oregon at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sutherlin High School.
