Prep Tennis: Multiple Roseburg athletes reach Day 2 of SWC District Tourney
The Roseburg Indians had a number of athletes make it through Day 1 of the Southwest Conference District Tennis Tournament on Thursday.
The first day of competition for the boy’s tournament was held at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center in Roseburg. The Indians had two singles and a doubles team reach the semifinals.
Alexander Totoian and Ramin Abrahime have both reached the semifinals of the boys’ singles bracket. Tatoian had a first round bye and made quick work of his opponents in the second and third rounds. Abrahime won three matches to reach the semis.
The two sophomores are on the same side of the bracket and face off against each other on Saturday with the winner advancing to the finals.
Roseburg junior William Herring rebounded from a first round loss to reach the consolation championship match. He’ll face Ethan Allred from North Medford.
The Roseburg boys’ doubles team of Alex Howard and Alex Hoddle has reached the semifinals. Howard and Hoddle had a first round bye and advanced to the semifinals with minimal resistance. They’ll face a doubles team from South Medford on Saturday.
The first day of the Southwest Conference girls tournament was held in Eugene.
The Roseburg girls saw two doubles teams reach the consolation semifinals. Regan Clark and Grace Gibby face a team from North Medford. Elizabeth Hiers and Ruby List will face a team from Grants Pass.
The final day of the district tournament will be held Saturday at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center in Roseburg.
