Prep Baseball: Big inning leads Jesuit past Roseburg 11-4
A big fifth inning sent No. 4 Jesuit to an 11-4 win over Roseburg in a nonleague game Tuesday at Champion Car Wash Field.

The Crusaders sent 11 hitters to the plate in the fifth and turned a one-run lead into a 9-1 advantage. Julian Vina had a two-run double off the right field fence to really get things rolling and was followed by back-to-back RBI singles by Austin Bernards and Lochlan Landerholm.
Roseburg (2-2) was able to score three runs over its final three innings, but the deficit was too large for the Tribe to overcome.
The Indians got on the board with a two-out triple by AJ Black in the second inning that scored Nick Ruiz, who had reached on a double.
A double by Fletcher Coleman in the fifth tacked on another run for Roseburg and Danner Wertz drove in a run in the seventh on a two-out single. Paxton Burke was 2-for-4 and was the lone Roseburg batter with multiple hits.
Landerholm, Bernards and Henry Vanderhoff all had two hits for Jesuit (3-1).
Roseburg’s pitchers surrendered eight walks and three hit batters. Christian Korba got the start and settled in nicely after a slightly shaky start. He allowed two runs on just two hits through four innings, but was touched up for five of the seven runs scored by Jesuit in the fifth.
The freshman gave up a total of four hits with five walks and four strikeouts in his first start of the year.
Roseburg faces another top-contender in the state on Wednesday when the Indians host the No. 1-ranked South Salem Saxons for a nonleague doubleheader at Champion Car Wash Field.
