Prep Swimming: Roseburg swimmers reach finals at state championships

BEAVERTON — The Oregon School Activities Association Class 6A swimming state championships took place Friday and Saturday last week at the Tualatin Hills Swim Club.
The Roseburg Indians had a number of swimmers compete and earn points for the Indians.
In the boys’ competition, Roseburg’s Jonathan Hlavinka reached the finals of the 100 yard backstroke and butterfly. The senior swam the backstroke in 53.42 for a 7th-place finish and was 8th in the butterfly with a time of 52.25.
Hlavinka scored a total of five points for Roseburg, which finished 18th in the team standings.
The Indians also had a pair of girls relay teams reach the finals and finish 8th. The foursome of Kailee Sullivan, Mallory Colvin, Bella Layna and Irelyn Weaver swam in the 200 yard medley relay (1:56.91) and 200 yard freestyle relay (1:43.33).
The Roseburg girls finished 19th in the team standings.
