Prep wrestling: No. 6 Roseburg takes down No. 4 Grants Pass, 46-27

The 6th-ranked Roseburg wrestling team finished out its Southwest Conference dual season with an upset win over No. 4 Grants Pass Wednesday night at Robertson Memorial Gymnasium.

The Indians had six wins by pin and topped the Cavemen 46-27 to go undefeated in league duals this season. 

Roseburg got pins from Carter Dawson (126), Drew Dawson (132), Chris Rice (150), Kellen Garrett (157), Ellis Down (175) and Vai Polamalu (215).  Junior Jack Olsen earned a big win in a ranked matchup against Grants Pass senior Michael Martin. Olsen edged out a 5-2 decision over Martin in a battle of top 5 ranked wrestlers. 

The Roseburg JV squad won 60-12.

District championship meets are up next for the Tribe. The Roseburg girls will compete at districts Friday and Saturday at Springfield High School. The boys will wrestle at the Southwest Conference championships on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Sheldon High School in Eugene.
