Former Roseburg standouts make NWAC All-South Region first team
The Northwest Athletic Conference announced the volleyball All-Region teams on Wednesday now that the regular season has come to an end.
A pair of former Roseburg Indians landed on the All-South Region first team. Linn-Benton sophomores Kinsey Brelage and Grace Luttrell both earned first team honors.
Luttrell led the NWAC in blocks per set this season (1.13), while Brelage ranked top 15 in digs per set (4.02). The pair helped the No. 1-ranked Roadrunners win the South Region title and earn a favorable seed for the upcoming NWAC championship tournament. LBCC has won the last three conference championships and will host the four-team South Regional starting Saturday. The Roadrunners face Wenatchee Valley at 1 p.m. on Day 1.
Umpqua sophomore Elise Zijlstra was a third team All-South Region selection. Zijlstra led the Riverhawks in attack efficiency. She averaged 1.62 kills per set with a team-high hitting percentage of .231. UCC finished the season with a 2-22 overall record.
