Local soccers team qualify for state playoffs
The Oregon School Activities Association released playoff brackets for Class 6A, 3A, and 1A boys and girls soccer late Tuesday. A handful of local teams will continue play this season when the playoffs begin this weekend.
The Roseburg girls are in the Class 6A state playoffs for the first time since 2015. The Indians landed as the 26-seed and face 7-seed Lincoln in the first round on Saturday.
The Sutherlin girls have earned the 14-seed for the 3A/2A/1A playoffs and will host a first round playoff game against Yamhill-Carlton on Saturday.
Sutherlin, South Umpqua and Umpqua Valley Christian have all qualified for the boys 3A/2A/1A playoffs. UVC is the 17-seed and travels to Central Linn for a first round game on Saturday, while South Umpqua is the 18-seed and will head to Santiam Christian for the first round.
Sutherlin earned the 7-seed and a first round bye. The Bulldogs will host St. Mary’s in the second round on Tuesday.
