Six local teams included in volleyball playoff brackets

Playoff brackets for high school volleyball started to be unveiled over the weekend and six teams from Douglas County have made the cut so far.

The Roseburg Indians finished 5th in the Southwest Conference and 25th in the OSAA power rankings. The Tribe will travel to Portland to face the Grant Generals in the first round on Wednesday. The Generals won the PIL championship with an 8-0 league record.

The Douglas Trojans are into the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs and will host the St. Mary’s Crusaders on Wednesday. Douglas beat Sutherlin in a league tiebreaker game on Saturday to reach the postseason.

Four local teams have qualified for the Class 1A state playoffs. Skyline League tournament  champion Umpqua Valley Christian earned the No. 2 overall seed for the state playoffs. UVC will host Alsea in the first round on Wednesday. North Douglas is the six-seed and will host Mannahouse Academy. Glendale is the 12-seed and hosts Elgin. Elkton is the 18-seed and travels to Ione/Arlington.

The Class 2A bracket will be announced on Tuesday.
