VANCOUVER, WASH. — Umpqua freshman Brooklyn Fely was named the Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday.

Fely helped lead the Riverhawks to a 28-5 record during the 2023-24 season and the NWAC tournament championship game, where UCC fell to the Lane Titans 62-49.

The 5-foot-11 Orem, Utah native was near the top of the conference in numerous statistical categories. She averaged 21.5 points per game, second most in the NWAC and led the conference with an average of 13.4 rebounds per game.

Fely finished the season with 22 double-doubles in 31 games, was named the South Region MVP, Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, and was a first team all-tournament selection at the NWAC tourney.

Jaiden Feroah of Green River Community College was named the men’s Player of the Year. Both Feroah and Fely will be invited to the NWAC Hall of Fame Banquet on May 30 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, Washington, where they will be honored and receive their Baden Player of the Year plaques.
