SALEM — It was five innings of perfection for South Salem’s Carter Nelson in a 13-0 win for the No. 4-ranked Saxons against the Roseburg Indians Tuesday at Gilmore Field.

Nelson, a University of Oregon commit, faced the minimum through the five-inning contest and struck out seven of the 15 batters he saw.

South Salem (9-0) got plenty of offense in support of Nelson. The Saxons recorded seven hits and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a RBI single by Teagan Scott, who later scored on a passed ball.

Roseburg (6-5) starter Brevin Harrison was touched up for five runs on three hits and one error in the second inning. Sawyer Nelson and Gavin Price both drove in runs with doubles in the frame.

Harrison exited after two innings. He finished with three strikeouts and one walk and allowed five hits.

Camden Hartsell took over for the final two innings and allowed six runs on two hits, five walks and one hit batter. The senior notched three strikeouts.

Roseburg returns to Southwest Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader against South Medford at Harry and David Field.
