PASCO, WASH. — It was an all-South Region battle for the Northwest Athletic Conference championship on Sunday at Columbia Basin College.

The Umpqua women’s basketball team met up with rival Lane for the fourth time this season with the NWAC title on the line.

After a tight first quarter, the Titans pulled ahead of the Riverhawks with a 16-2 run to finish out the first half and Lane held off UCC’s comeback efforts for a 62-49 victory.

It was the second consecutive conference championship for Lane (30-2) and the third win over Umpqua (28-5) this year.

Former Sutherlin High School star Micah Wicks led the Titans with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Wicks, a freshman for Lane, was named the tournament MVP.

Umpqua’s Brooklyn Fely had 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Riverhawks. Fely was selected to the all-tournament first team along with teammate Audrey Miller.

UCC’s Emma Aiono was an all-tournament second team selection.

This was the fourth runner-up finish for UCC and head coach Dave Stricklin since 2014.
