The Umpqua women’s basketball team is gearing up for the Northwest Athletic Conference tournament and as the Riverhawks prepare for the postseason, they’re also receiving some end-of-season awards.

Freshman Brooklyn Fely swept the top awards in the All-South Region voting, announced on Monday.

Fely was named the South Region Most Valuable Player, Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

The forward ranked 1st in the South Region in scoring and rebounding and had the best shooting percentage in the entire conference. Fely played in 27 of 28 regular season games and recorded 18 double-doubles.

Fely helped the UCC women finish second in the South Region with a 25-4 overall record. Head coach Dave Stricklin was once again selected as the South Region Coach of the Year.

The Umpqua women are matched up with Yakima Valley for the first round of the NWAC Tournament. The Riverhawks begin the playoffs on Friday at 10 a.m. in Pasco, Washington.

Former Sutherlin standout Micah Wicks was also honored in the All-Region awards. In her first season at Lane Community College, Wicks was selected first team All-South Region.
