The Class 1A high school girls basketball playoffs got underway on Wednesday night.

The 2nd-seeded North Douglas girls cruised through the first round with a 58-30 home win over Mapleton. Junior point guard Brooklyn Cyr made six 3-piont field goals and led the Warriors with 26 points.

North Douglas moves on to face 18-seed Crosshill Christian on Saturday. North Douglas previously defeated Crosshill Christian by 15 points on Dec. 18, 2023.

The 10th-seeded Umpqua Valley Christian girls survived a first round scare at home against Bonanza. The Monarchs led by 17-points in the second quarter but had to hang on down the stretch for a 43-42 win.

Vienna Tornell led UVC with 13 points.

The Monarchs will next face 10-seed North Clackamas Christian on Saturday in Oregon City.

The season came to an end for the Camas Valley girls, who made the trip to Molalla and suffered a first round loss to Country Christian, 66-29. The Hornets finished the season with a 12-12 overall record.
