Umpqua def. Southwestern Oregon 25-23, 24-26, 12-25, 24-26 (3-1)

The Umpqua Riverhawks volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a four-set winner against Southwestern Oregon last night at the UCC gym.

The Lakers took the first set 25-23, but Umpqua rallied to win the next three by scores of 26-24, 25-12 and 26-24.

Olivia Caddock led UCC’s attack with 17 kills and Andrea Barrera added 11.

UCC is scheduled to play again on Friday against Olympic in a conference crossover event at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington.

Portland 3, Umpqua 0

The Umpqua women’s soccer team fell to 0-2 on the year with a 3-0 loss to Portland yesterday at Sutherlin High School. The Panthers netted all three goals in the first half. The Riverhawks had multiple shots on goal, but couldn’t sneak one past the Portland goalkeeper, who made six saves in the game.

UCC is scheduled to travel to Grants Pass Saturday to face Rogue Community College in a league contest.
