The most prominent of the preseason college football rankings was released on Monday and for the first time since 2013 the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers are both in the Associated Press top 25 to begin the year.

The Oregon Ducks start the season ranked 15th in the AP Top 25, while the Oregon State Beavers are ranked 18th. Those are the same spots that the two teams are ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released last week.

It is the 15th time in the last 16 seasons Oregon will open the year ranked and fifth straight year the Ducks start in the top 15.

It’s the eighth time OSU has been ranked by either the coaches poll or the Associated Press to open a season, and the fourth time since 2001.
