The countdown to the start of the college football season is entering the home stretch, which means it’s time for the preseason award watch lists.

Both Oregon and Oregon State have been well represented early this season.

On Monday, the Maxwell Award watch list was announced and included Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and OSU running back Damien Martinez. The award honors the most outstanding player in college football.

Nix is one of eight returning semi finalists from last season, while this is the first time on the list for Martinez.

Included in the Outland Trophy watch list were Oregon offensive lineman Josh Conerly Jr.  and OSU’s Joshua Gray and Taliese Fuaga. The Outland Trophy is given each year to the nation’s top interior lineman.

Oregon’s defensive end Brandon Dorlus and defensive back Evan Williams landed on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list along with Oregon State defensive back Kitan Oladapo. The Nagurski Trophy is handed out to the nation’s best defensive player.

The watch lists will be refined as the season wears on and winners will be announced at the end of the year.
