The American Legion baseball regular season came to an end for the Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s on Monday and now the Stewies will take aim at the state playoffs in Eugene later this week.

The Docs (18-15-1, 9-7 Area 4) split a league doubleheader with the Emerald Challengers at Bill Gray Legion Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field. Roseburg claimed third place in the Area 4 standings behind the Challengers and Medford.

The Challengers (46-6, 13-3) jumped on the Docs in the opener for a 10-1 victory, but Roseburg rallied back to win 3-1 in the nightcap. With the split, Dr. Stewart’s became the only Area 4 team to win more than one game against Emerald this season.

Tristan Ledbetter tossed a gem in the late game to lead the Docs to the win. Ledbetter pitched six innings, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks and picked up his third win in his last four starts.

The Docs will now prepare for the postseason. Roseburg will face the Sherwood Post 56 Lobos in a must-win play-in game on Friday at Swede Johnson Stadium in Eugene. If the Docs get past Sherwood, they’ll face the Mid-Valley Southpaws in the first round of the Class AAA State Tournament on Saturday.

Friday’s play-in game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Tune in for coverage of the game on The Score 92.3 FM and 1490 AM or watch online at 541radio.com.
