The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s completed a pair of shutout victories to sweep the visiting Post 58 Canyon Crushers in a nonleague doubleheader Friday at Bill Gray Legion Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field.

The Crushers (10-8) managed just three hits in the twin bill and a total of just six baserunners over 14 innings. The Docs ended Post 58’s five-game winning streak with 6-0 victories in both games.

Kade Johnson tossed a complete-game, one-hitter in the opener. The 2022 South Umpqua grad finished with five strikeouts and one walk to earn his third win of the season. The shutout dropped Johnson’s team-best earned run average to 0.45.

The Docs (7-6-1) scored three runs in the third inning to snatch the lead. Logan Anderson scored the first run on a wild pitch after reaching base with a walk. Brooks Avery drove in a run with a base hit to rightfield and Jalen Riddle capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Avery added RBIs in the fourth and sixth innings and finished the game going 3-for-3. Anderson scored three runs and was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.

Evan Corbin and Colton Siewell combined to shutout the Crushers in the nightcap.

Corbin threw the first five innings, allowing two hits while striking out six and earning his second win of the season. Siewell pitched the final two innings without giving up a hit and striking out a pair of batters.

The Stewies built a 5-0 lead in the first three innings thanks to a trio of Crushers’ errors, four walks and multiple wild pitches.

Evan Martin helped pace the offense with a pair of RBI. His double in the sixth inning was one of two hits for the Docs. Daniel Withers had a triple in the third for the team’s only other hit.

Dr. Stewart’s will host an alumni game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
