KLAMATH FALLS — The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s started out Area 4 league play on Monday with a doubleheader split at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.

In a pair of tightly contested games, the Docs fell to the Falcons 8-7 in extra innings in the opener, but then managed to rally late for a 7-6 win in the nightcap from Kiger Stadium.

The Docs (3-3, 1-1 Area 4) held multi-run advantages late in both games of the twin bill. In Game 1, Roseburg led 7-4 going to the bottom of the seventh, but Klamath Falls (1-1, 1-1) scored three runs to tie the game and force extra innings. In the eighth inning the Falcons scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

In Game 2, the Docs led 5-2 going to the bottom of the fourth when Klamath Falls scored four runs to take a one-run lead. The Docs were still trailing 6-5 going into their final at bats, but came through with an RBI single by Evan Corbin to tie the game and a sacrifice fly by Kade Johnson to take the lead for good.
