Hunter Kublick

The Umpqua baseball team swept Clackamas in a South Region doubleheader at Champion Car Wash Field on Thursday to clinch a berth in the Northwest Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Riverhawks won 4-2 and 2-0 to secure at least a top four finish in the South Region standings.

Hunter Kublick allowed three hits and one earned run over nine innings in Game 1. The sophomore struck out nine and walked one.

Roseburg-native Spencer Six gave Umpqua (29-16, 20-14 South) the lead with a two-run double in the sixth inning. Six added another RBI in the eighth inning when he reached base on an error.

Bryan Ebe and Justin Hausner both hit doubles to drive in an unearned run in the nightcap to finish off the sweep. Eastyn Culp pitched eight shutout innings to get the win and Landen Parker earned the save with a perfect ninth inning.

The Riverhawks will play on the road in a three-team Super Regional once the postseason begins, but first UCC will finish the regular season with a doubleheader at Clackamas (11-35, 6-28) on Saturday.
