The Umpqua Riverhawks swept the Southwestern Oregon Lakers for a pair of NWAC South Region victories at home on Wednesday.
The 4th ranked Umpqua women (13-3, 2-2 South Region) built an eight-point lead in the first quarter and just kept adding to the advantage from there, resulting in a 66-48 win over SWOCC (6-10, 2-3).
Victoria Hollingshead, normally a starter, came off the bench to lead UCC with 12 points, 12 rebounds, three blocked shots and three steals. She has been dealing with injury as of late. Jalen Robles and Leiani Tonga both added 11 points.
The Umpqua men (11-5, 3-1 South Region) overcame a 14-point deficit in the first half and pulled off an 82-76 comeback victory over SWOCC (11-7, 3-2). The Riverhawks outscored the Lakers 51-38 in the second half.
Talon Valdes led UCC with 21 points, six assists and three steals.
The Umpqua men moved into a tie for first place in the South Region.
The Umpqua basketball teams will travel to Vancouver, Washington to face the Clark Penguins on Saturday.
