MEDFORD — It’s been a long time coming for the Roseburg High School girls basketball team.
The RHS girls ended a 36-game conference losing streak with a 50-42 overtime victory against North Medford in a Southwest Conference game Tuesday night. The losing streak dates back nearly five years to the 2017-18 season.
Emma Murphy hit a 3-pointer in the final 20 seconds of regulation to send the Roseburg girls to overtime, where the Indians outscored North Medford 11-3 to pull off the win.
Sydnee Muntifering scored five of her game-high 19 points in the extra session to lead Roseburg (6-5, 1-1 SWC). Murphy chipped in eight with a pair of 3-point field goals.
Ali Stevens led North Medford (5-9, 1-2) with 14 points.
The Roseburg girls will visit No. 9 Willamette in Eugene for a conference contest on Friday.
