The Umpqua Riverhawks took care of business against the Southwestern Oregon Lakers in a pair of South Region games on Wednesday at Umpqua Community College.

The No. 9 Umpqua women (9-4; 1-2 South) jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first period and cruised to an 80-45 win over the Lakers.

Delfina Misiuna led the way for the Riverhawks with a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Umpqua had four players score 10 points each.

UCC’s defense limited Southwestern Oregon (3-8; 1-3) to just 28% shooting and the Riverhawks cleaned up on the glass with a 48-26 advantage.

The Umpqua men (11-2; 2-1) handed first place SWOCC (10-7; 3-1) its first loss in conference play. The Riverhawks dominated inside and pulled away in the second half for a 73-59 win at home over the Lakers.

UCC outscored SWOCC 42-26 in the paint, led by 6-foot-7 freshman Nathan Webb with a game-high 22 points. Webb added nine rebounds and three assists for the Riverhawks.

The win moves Umpqua up the South Region standings to within half a game of first place.

The UCC men and women will continue the season on Saturday at Mt. Hood Community College.
