EUGENE — The No. 3 Umpqua men suffered their first loss of the conference season Wednesday night against No. 5 Lane. The Riverhawks struggled shooting, while the Titans made over 53% of their shots on the way to the 71-54 upset. 

Umpqua (10-2; 1-1 South Region) rallied back to within 60-52 around the four minute mark of the second half, but Lane (10-2; 1-0 South Region) finished on an 11-2 run to pick up the win. 

Nathan Webb led the Riverhawks with a game-high 20 points and led UCC with seven rebounds. Khalil Chatman led Lane with 15 points.

The No. 9 Umpqua women had another tough South Region matchup on Wednesday. The Riverhawks suffered an 85-60 loss against No. 1 ranked Lane. That followed a loss to No.  Clackamas on Monday for UCC. 

Umpqua (8-4; 0-2 South Region) got out to a slow start and trailed 23-10 after the first period, but the Riverhawks managed to hang closer with Lane (12-0; 2-0 South Region) the rest of the game. 

Victoria Hollingshead recorded a double-double to lead the Riverhawks. The freshman finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds.  Emma McKenney scored 21 points off the bend to lead the Titans. 

Coming up next for the UCC men and women will be a home matchup against Southwestern Oregon next Wednesday.
