After a stunning run to a second place finish in the Southwest Conference in 2021, the Roseburg High School football team swept all three of the major end of year awards and landed 18 total All-Southwest Conference honors.
Senior quarterback Colton Marsters burst on the scene to help lead the Roseburg offense to its most explosive season under head coach Dave Heuberger. Marsters finished the season passing for 1,219 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also added 1,258 yards on the ground with 17 scores.
Marsters’ prolific campaign earned him the top honors of Southwest Conference offensive player of the year.
On the defensive line, Roseburg junior Tiger Black was one of the toughest forces in the state. Black led the Southwest Conference in sacks and had two fumble recoveries. His presence in the middle of Roseburg’s stingy defense earned him the honors of the SWC defensive player of the year.
Roseburg’s success this season has been far and away the best of Heuberger’s six seasons with the Indians. The Tribe ended numerous lengthy losing streaks against conference opponents, took Sheldon down to the final seconds in a 49-47 loss that decided the conference championship, reached the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and earned the first playoff victory for Roseburg since 2012.
For his part in Roseburg’s resurgence this season, Heuberger was voted the Southwest Conference coach of the year.
The Indians dominated the all-conference voting with 12 first team selections, most of any team in the league.
On offense, Marsters was named the first team quarterback. Sophomore Cayden Eckel earned first team at running back after rushing for 1,081 yards and 14 touchdowns. At wide receiver, senior Logan Klopfenstein earned first team honors after leading the Indians with 29 catches for 430 yards and seven scores.
Roseburg’s offensive line was also recognized for its contributions to Roseburg’s explosive season. Juniors James Coleman and Tiger Black and seniors Haydon Snyder and Silas Kincaid were all first teamers.
On defense, Black was selected on the defensive line, Klopfenstein and Dawson Gillespie were first team linebackers and Marsters and Landyn Dupper were first team in the secondary.

Joey never mentioned the high honors Tiger Black took in Defense line in the state of Oregon, the highest award given. Joey should do a interview with Tiger. On his Roseburg
High works and what his future might be in D 1 football.
