The fall sports season is nearing the midway point and so far the results have been pretty good for a number of Umpqua Basin teams. Here’s a look at where some local teams rank in voting by coaches and media.
The Roseburg football team is 4-0 to start the season and is one of only eight teams still undefeated in the 6A classification. In the most recent OSAA Today coaches poll, Roseburg jumped from the “receiving votes” category into the top 10 at No. 9.
The Indians also checked in at No. 10 in the latest 6A media poll, conducted by SB Live Oregon.
In the 3A classification, South Umpqua (4-0) actually fell one spot in the latest OSAA Today coaches poll. The Lancers dropped to No. 4 despite winning 41-8 over previously No. 9 Philomath last week. Philomath dropped to No. 10 in the rankings.
In the 2A classification, Oakland (1-2) entered the most recent OSAA Today coaches poll after winning 42-30 against previously No. 6 Jefferson. The Oakland flew up the rankings to No. 6.
