Game one featured pitching. Game two, it was offense. Yet, the most important part of the equation was the outcome.
The Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s swept an Area 4 league doubleheader against Grants Pass on Monday at Bill Gray Legion Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field.
The Docs took game one 3-0 after former Roseburg standout Jace Stoffal pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out eight while walking none and allowing just one hit.
Stoffal also drove in the go-ahead run with one out in the third inning.
Roseburg (6-5, 2-0 Area 4) took game two 18-8 in five innings. The Docs sent 15 hitters to the plate in the first inning and scored 11 times. Dr. Stewart’s then stretched the lead to 15-2 with four runs in the second inning.
Jett Black went 3-for-4 with a double in the win and drove in four runs. The Docs had five players with multiple hits and smacked a total of 13 in the win.
The Docs will continue their series against the Nuggets on Tuesday with a doubleheader in Grants Pass at Reinhart Volunteer Park.
