Former South Umpqua three-sport star Shalyn Gray was selected as the American Volleyball Coaches Association national junior college player of the week on Wednesday.

Now starring on the volleyball court for Linn-Benton Community College, Gray had 23 kills on just three errors in a 3-1 win against Rogue Community College on May 12.

She’s the first Linn-Benton player to earn the AVCA two-year player of the week award. Gray is also the sixth consecutive player from the NWAC to earn the award this season.
