Former Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton is reportedly slated to make his professional debut this weekend for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Starting quarterback Gardner Minshew did not participate in practice on Wednesday and was listed on Jacksonville’s injury report with a right thumb issue. Luton is getting considered for the fill-in job over veteran QB Mike Glennon. The Jaguars are scheduled to face the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The Jags drafted Luton in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Beaver finished his career in Corvallis ranked fifth in OSU history with 42 career TD passes and seventh with 5,227 passing yards.

Luton would be the first Oregon State quarterback to make his pro debut in his rookie season since Matt Moore in 2007. If Luton gets the nod this week and former Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert starts for the Los Angeles Chargers, as expected, it would mark the first time since 2017 that a former Beaver and Duck both start in the same week in the NFL.
