Roseburg High School has selected Chad Smith as its next head coach for the girls basketball program. Smith is the third coach for the Indians in four years and takes over after Dane Tornell stepped down from the position in May. 

Smith last coached basketball as the JV coach at RHS under Bob Feasel at least 15 years ago. He is also currently serving as the head coach of the boys’ golf team for the Indians and teaches science at Roseburg High. 

The Roseburg girls’ basketball team has struggled to come by wins over the past two seasons, going 4-45 overall and failing to get a victory in Southwest Conference play. The Indians will return four players from last year’s team, including honorable mention all-conference guard Jaz Murphy.
