A pair of Roseburg High swimmers will be headed to the coast to continue their athletics and academics. Seniors Rainey Lambert and Bethany Foster each signed on with Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay to compete in the pool for the Lakers.
The News-Review reports that Lambert plans to swim the 100 back and 200 back at SWOCC, and will work on his speed in the 50 free and 100 free. Lambert was a captain for the RHS team and was a part of the record-setting 200-yard freestyle relay team for the Roseburg boys last winter.
Foster plans on concentrating on the 200 free and 500 free in college, according to the News-Review. She didn’t reach the state meet as a senior, but placed in two individual events at the Southwest Conference district meet and was a member of two relays that finished in the top four.
The SWOCC Lakers had a solid season last year, with the women finishing third and the men fourth at the NJCAA National Championships in Fort Pierce, Florida.
