The season unfortunately came to an end early for the Umpqua Community College men’s basketball team, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel for sophomore Kolten Mortensen.

The 6-foot-7 forward has received a scholarship offer from Division-2 South Dakota School of Mines, according to a tweet from Riverhawks head coach Daniel Leeworthy.

Mortensen led the Riverhawks in scoring with 14.4 points per game and averaged 6.3 rebounds per contest. The big-man also shot nearly 40% from behind the 3-point line and was effecient with his offense, shooting nearly 60% from the floor.

The South Dakota School of Mines — located in Rapid City, South Dakota — finished the season with a 17-13 overall record and sixth with a 13-9 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
