No surprise here. Oregonians took advantage of legal online sports betting during Super Bowl 54.

The Oregon Lottery announced Monday that more than 90,000 wagers were placed on the Super Bowl through the Scoreboard sports betting app. More than 18,000 people got up the nerve to throw down some cash in hopes of making a payday. I was one of them.

My wagers weren’t crazy. A stunning $6 spread over four bets. Yet what is impressive is that more than $2 million was wagered on the game. That’s some serious money in what was the first opportunity for Oregonians to bet on the Big Game here in our state.

The numbers and opportunities are only expected to grow. Americans wagered nearly $270 million total on the Super Bowl. Hopefully most of them were smarter than me. I didn’t cash out with any winnings.

The Super Bowl is probably the biggest sports gambling draw. Did you put any of your hard earned cash on the line this year? Let us know and feel free to share any big wins or bad beats in the comment section.
