REDMOND — Local wrestling teams braved the travel conditions over the mountains and were in Redmond over the weekend to take part in the Oregon Wrestling Classic.
No. 2 ranked Roseburg finished runner-up to top-ranked Newberg in the 6A finals on Saturday. The Indians collected just three wins in the championship dual and lost 51-21.
It was the only loss of the dual-format tournament. The Tribe will next get ready to tangle with Grants Pass in a conference dual on Wednesday.
In the 3A tournament, South Umpqua was eliminated by top-ranked Burns in the quarterfinals, but the Lancers fought back to win a pigtail match against No. 11 Pleasant Hill.
And in the 2A/1A bracket, Reedsport placed fourth after dropping two straight duals following a win over Crane in the quarterfinals.
