CORVALLIS — Oregon State freshman Taylor Jones won her third Pac-12 freshman of the week award on Monday. She helped guide the Beavers to a pair of wins last week to open the conference season.
Jones averaged 15.5 points per game with 7 rebounds per contest in wins over Utah and Colorado. She also recorded a career-high 6 blocks in the win over the Buffalo.
The OSU women improved to 14-0 on the year with those wins and the Beavers stayed at No. 3 in the latest Associated Press top 25 rankings announced Monday. Oregon State lost a pair of first place votes from last week, but still remain right behind the No. 2-ranked Oregon women. The Ducks picked up a few first place votes and have seven total in this week’s poll.
UO is the highest ranked of five Pac-12 teams. Stanford checks in at No. 5, UCLA at No. 8 and Arizona at No. 18.
Oregon and Oregon State will face Arizona this week, along with Arizona State.
In the latest men’s AP top 25, the Oregon Ducks dropped in the poll after losing to Colorado last week. The Ducks fell five spots to No. 9 in the poll, but still remain the highest ranked team from the Pac-12.
Colorado entered the poll this week at No. 25, while Arizona moved up one spot to No. 24.
Arizona makes the trip to the Oregon schools this week with a game in Eugene on Thursday and Corvallis on Sunday.
