The college football season ramped up a notch Tuesday night after the initial College Football Playoff rankings were revealed on ESPN.

A 13-member committee, chaired by University of Oregon athetics director Rob Mullens, ranked the top 25 college football teams in the nation and the Oregon Ducks checked in at No. 7. It was the first appearance in the poll since 2015 for the Ducks.

Oregon is also ranked No. 7 in the latest Associated Press top 25 and USA Today Coaches poll.

Utah is the only other Pac-12 team in the playoff rankings. The Utes were voted No. 8.

UO and Utah are currently on a course to meet in the Pac-12 Championship game in December.

Ohio State was voted No. 1 in the playoff poll, followed by LSU, Alabama and Penn State. Defending national champion Clemson is at No. 5.

The College Football Playoff rankings will be announced each Tuesday for the next four weeks and the final rankings will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 8. The top four teams will play for the national championship.

    Geez did you see Matt Driskel in the last game against the Bears? I think I’m in the same boat as everyone here. I really wish we had Matthew Stafford back. I really hope he gets better.
