The Douglas High School girls soccer team finished the regular season with a 5-2 win over Sutherlin Wednesday. The Trojans will continue on to the first round of the Class 3A/2A/1A state playoffs after their second place finish in Special District 4. Postseason play begins on Tuesday.
The Southwest Conference cross country district meet took place Wednesday in Eugene at Lane Community College. Roseburg senior Zachary Traul earned his first berth in the Class 6A state meet with a third-place finish in the boys’ race and the Roseburg girls finished third in the team standings and qualified for state for the first time since 2003.
Traul finished with a time of 15 minutes, 56.60 seconds and was less than one second out of second place.
Qualifying for state on the girl’s side was sophomore Eliza Eckman senior Samantha Eichman, freshmen Charis and Corinne Childers and junior Miriam Childers.
The state cross country meet will be held a week from Saturday at Lane Community College.
