Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu and Oregon State’s Destiny Slocum were both named to the preseason watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given annually to the nation’s top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I basketball.
Ionescu, a senior at Oregon, has won the award the past two seasons. She had a historic junior season, leading the Ducks to their first ever Final Four. Entering her senior season, Ionescu has a chance to become just the second 3-time winner of the award.
UConn’s Sue Bird won the Lieberman award from 2000-02.
Slocum, a redshirt junior at OSU, was a finalist for the award last season. She was an All-Pac-12 selection and led the Beavers with a scoring average of 15.4 points per game.
The winner of the Lieberman Award will be announced at the College Basketball Awards show in Los Angeles on April 10, 2020.
