In anticipation of the start of high school fall sports season, the OSAA Today has started releasing preseason coaches polls for each sport.

Preseason polls for volleyball were announced on Tuesday and a few Umpqua Basin teams were counted among the anticipated top squads in the state.

After a fifth place finish at state last year, the North Douglas volleyball team was voted fourth in the 1A preseason coaches poll. The Lady Warriors are the highest-ranked team from the Umpqua Basin in any classification.

Behind North Douglas in the 1A poll, Days Creek was voted fifth after reaching the state quarterfinals last year.

In the 2A poll, the Glide Wildcats received eight points in the voting and finished outside the top 10.

In the 3A poll, the South Umpqua Lancers were picked sixth in the state after making a run to a third place finish at state last year. The Sutherlin Bulldogs received votes in the poll, but were outside the top 10.

The high school volleyball season will get underway August 29. View the full results of the voting HERE.
