The first official preseason college football ranking was announced Thursday and the University of Oregon football team begins the season ranked among the nation’s best.

The Ducks are 13th in the preseason voting of FBS coaches from around the country. Oregon is the second-highest ranked team out of the Pac-12 Conference, coming in just behind the Washington Huskies at no. 12.

Utah is ranked 15th, Washington State 21st and Stanford 23rd.

Clemson starts the season at no. 1 in the poll after winning the national championship last year. The Tigers received 59 first place votes, while second place Alabama received six. No other team received a first place vote.

Georgia, Oklahoma and Ohio State round out the top five.

Oregon will face no. 16 Auburn in the season opener on August 31 in Arlington, Texas. Oregon State’s season-opening opponent, Oklahoma State, received 20 points in the voting and was listed in the “others receiving votes” category.
