EUGENE — The Umpqua Valley Cal Ripken 12U All-Star team went 3-0 at the state tournament in Eugene over the weekend and brought home a state title.

The team will now move on to the Northwest Regional in Meridian, Idaho. Tournament play starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday. Opening ceremonies will be held Wednesday night. 

The local team defeated Rogue Valley in its first game, 15-5. The Umpqua Valley (22-1) boys then took down Willamette Valley 2-1. They had to face the Willamette Valley team a second time and won 14-6 to claim the title. 

The winner of the Northwest Regional will advance to the World Series Aug. 2-10 in Branson, Missouri.
