Here’s a recap of four state semifinals including Umpqua Basin baseball and softball teams.

#4 Umpqua Valley Christian 12, #1 KNAPPA 10
The Umpqua Valley Christian baseball team is heading to the 2A/1A state championship game after a massive come from behind victory against No. 1 seed Knappa on Tuesday in Astoria.

The Monarchs fell behind the Loggers 9-0 after three innings of play, but a nine-run fifth inning saved UVC’s season and guided the Monarch’s to a 12-10 victory.

Aaron Buechley led UVC going 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs. Jacob Luther went 2-for-5 in the leadoff spot and drove in three for the Monarchs.

Luther also earned the win for UVC after coming in for starter KC Pettibone. Buechley earned the save.

Umpqua Valley Christian had six hits and drew four walks in the pivotal fifth inning. The Monarchs managed to overcome six errors in the field.

Up next, UVC will face No. 3 seed Kennedy in the state championship game on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer. It’s the first state title appearance for the Monarchs since 2013.

#3 KENNEDY 1, #7 North Douglas 0
Kennedy advanced to the state finals with a 1-0 shutout of North Douglas on Tuesday in Mt. Angel. The two teams combined for just three hits in the pitcher’s duel.

Kennedy scored it’s lone run in the third inning. North Douglas had a chance to get a run in the third, but was robbed on a line drive to centerfield.

The Warriors finished the season with a 22-7 record.

#9 NORTH DOUGLAS 2, #20 Lakeview 0
The North Douglas softball team defeated Lakeview 2-0 to reach the 2A/1A state title game for a second time in three years. Nikki Derrick tossed a no-hitter and slugged a two-run homer in the first inning for the game’s only runs. The junior struck out 11 hitters and walked just three.

The Warriors advance to face Kennedy in the finals Friday at 5 p.m. at Jane Sanders Stadium on the campus of the University of Oregon.

#1 CLATSKANIE 10, #4 South Umpqua 4
The South Umpqua softball team couldn’t overcome undefeated Clatskanie in a 10-4 loss in the 3A state playoffs. The Lancers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the No. 1 Tigers fought their way back with 17 hits off of South Umpqua starter Tayah Kelley.

Kelley hit a solo homer for the Lancers and Shalyn Gray was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple.

The South Umpqua Lancers finished the season with a 22-6 record.
