The Roseburg boys basketball team has been working towards making the OSAA state playoffs for six seasons and finally got back to the post season this year. Yet, actually playing that first round game is proving difficult.
Athletic Director Russ Bolin announced Wednesday that the Roseburg boys will now try to travel to Tigard for their first round game on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled to be 5:30 p.m.
The Indians were scheduled to visit the Tigard Tigers to begin the playoffs on Tuesday, but the game was postponed until Wednesday. Another round of snow has forced administrators to delay the game a second time.
Roseburg is not alone in this situation. North Medford, South Eugene, Sheldon, Bend and Mountain View have all had to postpone games until Thursday as well. Those schools all reside in some of the areas hit hardest by the recent winter storms.
The backlog of games will create difficulties for the OSAA’s playoff schedule. Second round games are scheduled to be played on Friday, March 1. For teams delayed by the snow, those second round match-ups will likely be moved as well.
