MEDFORD – The No. 1 ranked Roseburg wrestling team defeated the No. 3 North Medford Black Tornado Wednesday night to keep its Southwest Conference record unblemished through four duals this season.

The Indians got five pins and won 11 matches total for a 57-12 victory over the Black Tornado. Roseburg faces South Medford for its final conference dual on February 7. The Southwest Conference district meet will be held at Grants Pass February 15-16.

Freshman Carson Dunn (106) started the dual with a 49-second win by fall against Sam Miller. Roseburg also got pins by Darian Thacker (160), Logan Folsom (170), Owen Vredenburg (182) and Hunter Hillard (195). Kaden Schlatter (120) won by technical fall, Austin David (152) earned a 10-0 major decision, Mason Labahn (285) got a 5-1 upset win over 19th ranked Romelio Tealavea and Nash Singleton (113) and Devin Folk (132) won by forfeit.

The Roseburg wrestlers will next gear up for the Reser’s Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday at Liberty High School in Hillsboro. The state’s top teams in every classification will be attending the tournament. Eighteen of the 21 teams registered for the tournament are currently ranked in the top 10 or receiving votes in the most recent OSAA Today coaches polls.
