ROSEBURG – It was a perfect way to end a career at Roseburg High School for the wrestling class of 2019. The Roseburg Indians celebrated senior night Wednesday and shutout Grants Pass 73-0 in the varsity meet and 84-0 in the JV competition.

All 9 seniors on the Roseburg roster that competed won their matches after getting a chance to run out in front of the home crowd one last time. The rest of Roseburg’s schedule will be on the road at tournaments or duals.

The Tribe finished with nine wins by pin during the varsity meet, one by major decision, three by decision, and one by forfeit.

The match featured a number of showdowns between ranked wrestlers. Top-ranked Nash Singleton won his match at 113-pounds by fall in 59 seconds against No. 19 Diego Chavez. Darian Thacker, ranked fourth at 160-pounds, defeated No. 10 Jerry Watts with a pin in 53 seconds. No. 17 Carson Dunn won a 17-7 major decision over No. 20 Houston Miner at 106-pounds and unranked Kaden Schlatter won at 120-pounds over No. 12 Joseph Miner.

The Roseburg wrestling team is now 3-0 in conference duals. Up next, the Tribe heads to the Oregon Classic on Friday and Saturday in Redmond.
