COEUR D’ALENE, ID – The No. 2 Umpqua women’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the year against unranked Bellevue on Monday afternoon in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The RiverHawks gave up a late one-point lead and the Bulldogs pulled out a 77-73 victory.

UCC led by eight at halftime and rallied back from a fourth quarter deficit to lead 71-70 with 1:27 left to play. Bellevue went on a 7-2 run to finish the game and sealed the deal by making five-of-eight free throws down the stretch.

Umpqua committed 24 turnovers, which led to 29 points for Bellevue. Freshman Natalie Amos scored 40 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Taylor Stricklin led three UCC players in double figures with 26 points

The Umpqua women are scheduled to face South Puget Sound at 11 a.m. to wrap-up a three-day NWAC Crossover Tournament in Coeur d’Alene.
