ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a dominating 69-51 win over the Bend Lava Bears on Friday night.
Collin Warmouth and Storm Scott each had career nights and combined for 57 points to lead the Indians. Warmouth finished with a game-high 32 points and Scott added 25. The points totals were new career-highs for the seniors, eclipsing marks they set earlier in the year.
The scoring tandem of Warmouth and Scott paced Roseburg to an early lead. They combined to score 19 points in the first quarter and the Indians built a 24-16 advantage. They combined for 15 in the second period and Roseburg led 46-35 at the halftime break.
Warmouth and Scott started the game on fire, hitting all eight of their three-point attempts before they both missed a try in the third quarter.
Roseburg’s offense fell off its first half pace and Bend actually cut the deficit down to nine with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter, but Roseburg responded by going on an 11-2 run to finish the game. The Indians made 7-of-8 free throws in the final period to secure the win.
Jett Black and Xavier Avilez each added six points to round out Roseburg’s scoring. Jimmy Robertson finished with 14 points to lead Bend (3-1).
