HARRISBURG – The Sutherlin girls basketball team is playing in the semifinals at the Les Schwab Eagle Booster Classic after beating Sweet Home 67-31 on Thursday.

A pair of freshman helped lead the Bulldogs to victory. Sierra Nielsen scored 18 points and Kaley Kuxhausen hit four 3-pointers and chipped in 14.

The Bulldogs move on to face Baker in the semifinals. Baker defeated Harrisburg 58-15 in the first round Thursday. The two teams, both nicknamed Bulldogs, will square off at 6:30 p.m. from Harrisburg High School.

The girls will play right after the Sutherlin boys, who lost in the first round to Sweet Home on Thursday and fell into the consolation bracket. The Huskies downed the Bulldogs 45-44 in overtime.

Sweet Home made a three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime and edged out the Bulldogs. Mason Gill led Sutherlin with 16 points before fouling out.

Sutherlin will play against Harrisburg in the consolation round. The host Eagles lost 60-39 to Baker in the first round.

The Sutherlin boys tipoff at 5 p.m. Tune in to hear both Bulldogs basketball games on i101 FM, starting with pregame at 4:45 p.m.
