ROSEBURG – Seniors Collin Warmouth and Storm Scott combined for 44 points to lead the Roseburg boys basketball team to a 63-47 victory over the Century Jaguars in their home opener on Friday.

The Indians built a meager lead in the first quarter, but jumped ahead by 15 points at halftime with a 27-12 score. Warmouth had 16 of his career-high 29 points in the first half and Scott added seven to account for all but four of Roseburg’s first half points.

Warmouth made three 3-pointers and went 8-for-9 from the free throw line on his way to surpassing his previous career-high of 27. The senior is averaging 27.5 points per game through the first two games of the season.

Scott rebounded from a poor shooting performance in his Roseburg debut on Wednesday. The senior transfer from Mt. View made his first seven field goal attempts and finished 7-of-8 from the floor on his way to a 15 point game.

Roseburg (2-0) led by as much as 25 points in the fourth quarter. The Tribe has averaged 69 points per game so far and has won by double-digits in both games.

Century (0-1) played without senior forward Daniel Berger, who sat out with an injury. Berger started against Roseburg last year and finished with 16 points. This year, Edy Essien finished as Century’s top scorer with 18 points. He made four of his five three-pointers in the fourth period.

The Roseburg boys will play at home again on Saturday when the Indians host the Aloha Warriors. Roseburg will look for some retribution after losing to Aloha on the road last year. The game tips off at 1:30 p.m. Tune in for pregame coverage starting at 1:15 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.
