CLACKAMAS – The Umpqua women’s basketball team improved to 4-0 on the year after winning three-straight games at the Clackamas Community College Thanksgiving Invitational over the weekend.

The RiverHawks excelled offensively and dominated their first two contests. UCC defeated Mt. Hood 82-70 on Friday, followed by an 87-56 win over Olympic on Saturday.

Umpqua wrapped-up the tournament with a thrilling 102-99 comeback victory over Clackamas on Sunday.

The RiverHawks were trailing the Cougars by nine to start the fourth quarter, but used a 9-0 run to tie things at 85-85. Clackamas rallied back after trading a few buckets with UCC. The Cougars built a seven-point edge only to see Umpqua fight back to take a 100-99 lead on a Taylor Stricklin three-pointer with :52 remaining in regulation.

Stricklin hit a pair of free throws to extend the UCC lead to three points and sealed the win with a steal. Stricklin finished with 31 points and eight assists to lead five players in double-figures.

Cielo Gonzalez added 27 points for Umpqua and Sienna Riggle and Lexi Woodard each had a double-doubles. Riggle had 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Woodard chipped in 13 points and 10 boards.

Up next UCC will take part in the Centrailia Tournament starting Friday at 7 p.m.
